As an Environmental Compliance Coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring that company activities meet and adhere to environmental regulations and minimize their impact on the environment.
Please note – this position involves a significant amount of field work. You are required to have a valid Class G driver’s license, and a clean driver’s abstract.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science preferred
Minimum 2 years related environmental experience preferably in mining and/or construction
Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Critical thinking skills
Ability to influence others
A strong safety ethic
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Valid Class G licence
Familiar with Ontario Regulation 406/19 On-Site and Excess Soil Management
Familiar with the Assessment of Past Uses Report, Soil Characterization Report, Excess Soil Destination Assessment Report and Sampling and Analysis Plan
Familiar with the Aggregate Resources Act, pertinent sections of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Planning Act and Ontario Water Quality Objectives
Experience creating and delivering presentations in public and private environments
Ability to support minor and major site plan amendments, assist in the development of mining plans, coordinate site rehabilitation activities
Ability to support new aggregate site/licence initiatives as well as pit and quarry expansion and deepening efforts
Play an active role in our management of excess soils, ensure adherence to related regulatory requirements and seek opportunities for excess soil reuse, storage and processing.
Responsible for overseeing a Tracking System for Excess Soils.
Interact with Project Managers, Reuse Site Operators and Soil Haulers.
Coordinate Excess Soil Management Plans.
Coordinate Sampling and Characterization report preparation.
Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety protocols and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Support productive relationships with MNRF, MOECP, Municipalities, Conservation Authorities, and the general public.
Support commitments relating to MOECP Permits to Take Water, MOECP Certificates of Approval, MNRF Compliance Assessment Reporting, Hazardous Waste Information Network and the National Pollutant Release Inventory.
Accurately complete daily logs, monthly database entry and annual reporting relating to air monitoring, acoustic monitoring, open ditch & pond water sampling, water volumes and well level recordings.
Support endangered species programs.
Other unrelated duties may be assigned as necessary.
Work in both an indoor office setting and in an outdoor environment in any type of weather
Driving from site to site, or site to office
Ability to sit for intervals, with the ability to get up and move around (computer work, driving)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to walk for extended periods, including on uneven terrain
Ability to climb a ladder
Ability to bend, reach, squat and/or crouch, kneel
